If your business is automotive related post links to stories, information and short tips about automobiles. If you Tweet without interacting it's somewhat like having a conversation with yourself. Stop and ask a question from someone else, or comment on what someone else says. Notice your followers! Remember we all have different talents and skill levels - Twitter isn't just about promotion but rather a conversation 140 characters at a time.

Interact! "Re-tweet" interesting things from followers especially if it's related to your business. Ask questions to generate discussion and feedback. This might be related to your business or could directly be in the line of "what kind of services would you like to see in (whatever your business is)?"

Tweet things of value. Try to maintain a focus and remember that what you post can work against you as well as work for you. Use caution when posting on political or personal topics as these can sometimes work against you. Remember the advantage of reaching many people is extended to all. Learn to use hash tags to reach more people such as #food or #home based on your topic.

Choose topics that cater to customers - or potential customers. While you don't want to give away your business consider posting on related topics that help customers save money or time and you'll build a following without buying lists or falling to the scams that sometimes invade social media. Consider this a place to give things away. For example if you have a food related business you might post on types of food, a few recipes per day or food storage tips.

Go easy on promotional videos. If you look back at the end of the day and find more self promotion than interaction you may be losing customers. Twitter is the ultimate soft sell tool. It's accessible to small auto repair garages in New Hampshire as well as major companies.
